guest at home

shoes by the door
walk on the balls of your feet
like a cartoon burglar

finish your morning coffee
wash the mug in the sink
before they wake up

leave everything where you find it
no trace
of your existence

fade into the background
so no one misses you
when you’re gone

sit at the dinner table
quiet as snowfall
in twilight

it’s your house
but it doesn’t feel
that way

      1. I hadn’t thought about it, but I think you’re right. Like, you’re curating an image/post that will please an audience, but not challenge/disrupt TOO much, or else they may turn on you. I definitely tend to think about the audience perception line-by-line and need to get out of it when I’m writing. That seem about right?

      2. Write for yourself and if other people like it that’s a welcome bonus. Ever heard the term “dance like nobody is watching”? The same applies to writing write like only you will read it. If you like it guaranteed someone else will too. I was scared to post to start with but then I thought what have I got to lose

      3. You’re totally right! I was the same when I started posting stuff. I knew I had to get used to sharing what I could and be proud of creating a thing. I end up writing for myself when in I get in the groove, but it can take me a but to get into it some days.
